New consolidated regulation on protected designations

On the13th of May 2024, the new EU regulation on geographical indications entered into force (EU no. 2024/1143). At Märkningsdagen on December 5, the Swedish Food Agency will inform about the news in this regulation.

It has been determined, smoke flavouring will be prohibited in the EU, starting July 2026 and 2029 respectively.

Do you remember our news from the end of May when we wrote that smoke flavourings probably will not be authorized for use in the future? On July 31, the EU Commission decided that the auhtorization of the 10 remaining smoke flavors would not be renewed.
